The Style of the Double Breasted suit design originated under the influences of the naval world as the Pea coat. The style evolved in America as the “Reefer” jacket in the late 19th century. It was an outerwear jacket worn to sporting and outdoor events. The Duke of Windsor, a stylish trendsetter of the 1930s adapted it as a leading staple garment within his wardrobe and supported the style’s rise to a more formal business setting, where it was earlier rejected by the business culture.

After a time the style became dated, but in later years has become a distinguishing look for its wearer. When a DB is worn today, it communicates exclusivity, refined tastes and a sense of stylish fortitude.

Within Art and Design, a line has the power to visually communicate a message about a character trait. A Diagonal line expresses the dynamic, that can be used to display several dynamic meanings within many design patterns.  In a pattern a diagonal line can be used to personify dynamic traits like charisma, vigor, ambition, and innovation.

The lines of the suit are dynamic, dramatically cut to create a formidable slimming silhouette. The cut of the suit broadens the shoulders, the wide peak lapel expands the chest, projecting an authoritative  confidence. The diagonal lines continues cutting  across the chest providing an extra layer of fabric, secured by three buttons on each side like soldiers fortifying a fort.
